ANTI-BEARDSLEY |
Over the years I have several suggestions and one complaint that my coverage of Beardsley's work was minimal. I always replied that many other websites afforded excellent even comporehensive coverage. But I did notice that few other representations of his work on the Web allowed me to study in detail his compositional powers, and his ability to fill surfaces with decorative pattern and line. His graphic powers were restricted but highly commercial, and fused with a sense of his naughtiness, but he did run out of steam. I add the Pennell account because it was a sensible contemporary view. |
