DONALD CAMMELL 1934 - 1996

These drawings date from Cammell's period as a fashionable portrait painter in London and nearly 10 years before the release of his most accomplished feature film, Performance (with Nicholas Roeg).

The editorial illustrations offer a more overtly life drawing option whereas for the cover, Cammell used a more conventional spiky caricatural style based on the magazine's favourite artist, Ronald Searle.
