Osbert Lancaster

Osbert Lancaster's neat formula for Night and Day, published in 1951, and measuring 14 x 22cms

We have studied Lancaster for his creation of the fictitious location. There is a fascination with the entirely invented town, city and country. Lancaster concocted two English places of great visual interest - Draynflete and Pelvis Bay. Dustjacket and endpapers here a comparison of sea front.  In The Pleasure Garden he attempted a chronology of gardeners that is all you need to know.
