Rolf Klep (1904-1981) worked predominately for FORTUNE from 1935 onwards, a pioneer of airbrush rendering in technical drawing. He also worked for LIFE and produced visualisation of space craft for Von Braun, and for the magazines, e.g.Colliers. He retired in 1962 and returned to Astoria, the twon of his birth. Almost singlehandedly he founded the The Columbia River Maritime Museum, a major research interest of his life. Having studied art at the University of Oregon, he maintained connections with them and founded the Rolf and Alice Klep Collection there. |
