LABOUR LEADER was the newspaper of the Independent Labour Party which was re-named TTHE NEW LEADER with a new editor H.N.Brailsford. The editor believed in publishing cultural articles rather than investigative reporting. He collected certain articles and artwork to sum up the production during the year. In a folder inside the front cover he reproduced work by Steinlen and seminal images of Labour and unrest. More originally, the New Leader saw ambitious work by Clare Leighton,Eric Gill, Gwen Raverat and C.W.Taylor.

Raverat's work is reproduced widely through the texts (by T.F.Powys, E.M.Forster and H.M.Nevinson among others).
